HOLLABRUNN, Austria (AP) — The HLW Hollabrunn recently showcased its students’ talents in a vibrant musical production, “Broadway to Disney,” held at the Hollabrunner City Hall. More than 50 students demonstrated their passion, discipline, adn creativity in the performance.
The aspiring stage show was brought to life in just two and a half months, transforming the City Hall into a dazzling display of musical theater.

Martina Herrmann, deputy director of the HTL for food technology, lauded the performance. “I was there for the first time and am overwhelmed by the vocals, dance – simply an excellent performance and very valuable for the community of the students to have something so great together,” Herrmann said.
A Diverse Repertoire: From Broadway Hits to Disney Classics
Students from various grade levels displayed their skills in singing, dancing, and solo performances.
The audience was treated to a diverse musical journey, featuring selections from Broadway hits such as “Dance of the Vampires,” “phantom of the Opera,” “Chicago,” “Six,” ”Beetlejuice,” and “Mean Girls.” The performance also included timeless Disney melodies from “Pocahontas,” “Mulan,” “Vaiana,” “Hercules,” “Beauty and the Beast,” “The Lion King,” and more.
Former Director Reflects on HLW Hollabrunn’s Musical Legacy
Leopold mayer, former director of the school, shared his thoughts on what makes the musical performances so special. “Everyone was there with a passion-regardless of whether in the spotlight or in the last row,” Mayer said. “This is always remembered by the students, not whether they had a two or three.”

The performances where characterized by energetic choreography,thoughtful staging,and evident joy. Professionalism and team spirit were apparent throughout the show.
Motivated Team Maximizes Student Potential
Michael Wirtner, director and overall manager, was credited with skillfully bringing out the full potential of the young performers. Nicole Guttenbrunner provided the group with both sustenance and encouragement, while also managing the production.

Veronika Hörmann oversaw musical rehearsals, and Werner Prokop was responsible for the stage design and equipment. Charly, who delivered the closing speech, expressed gratitude on behalf of the students and teachers, acknowledging minor setbacks but affirming that ”it was worth it.”
Behind-the-Scenes Efforts
A notable aspect of the production was the swift costume changes and detailed props, which enhanced each scene. Richard Hogl, a member of the state parliament, commented on the actors’ remarkable speed in changing costumes.
Standing Ovation and Pride
Marion Hofmann, director of HLW, expressed her pride in the students’ accomplishments.”I am incredibly proud of our students-what you did here is just great!” Hofmann said after the performance.

Among the attendees were district police commander Eduard Widhalm, school quality manager Verena Maschek, director of HTL for food technology gottfried Krottendorfer, Greens state parliament member Georg Ecker, and ÖVP city councilor Elisabeth Schüttengruber-Holly.
