HMD Phones: HMD 100, 101, 102 – Long Battery Life
HMD Global hints at Three New Feature Phones: 100, 101, adn 102
HMD Global, the home of Nokia phones, is quietly preparing to launch a trio of ultra-basic feature phones – the HMD 100, HMD 101, and HMD 102 – initially targeting the Indian market. Support pages for the HMD 100 and HMD 101 have already appeared on the company’s Indian website, signaling an imminent release.
Details surrounding the phones are sparse, but HMD Global CEO Jean-François Baril offered a glimpse into the HMD 102 via a LinkedIn post on November 29,2023. Notably, the HMD 102 appears to be the only model of the three equipped wiht a rear-facing camera.
Beyond the camera, Baril confirmed the HMD 102 will include MP3 playback capabilities, a feature that necessitates the inclusion of a 3.5mm headphone jack – a welcome sign for users who prefer wired audio. All three models are expected to utilize Micro USB ports for charging and data transfer.
However, these phones may not be coming to Europe. Given the impending EU regulations around standardized charging ports (USB-C), the continued use of Micro USB by HMD Global suggests the company doesn’t plan to release the HMD 100, 101, or 102 within the European Union. These devices represent a continued focus on affordability and essential functionality for markets where feature phones remain popular.
