Hockey Novice Learns Kraken Are Part of Shark’s Healthy Diet
Kraken Fans left Craving More After Sharks Sink Seattle Hopes
Seattle, WA – Teh Seattle Kraken faithful braved a chilly Climate Pledge Arena on November 30th, hoping to witness their team rise from the depths and conquer the San Jose Sharks. While the atmosphere crackled with anticipation, the Kraken ultimately fell short, losing 4-2 in a game that left fans yearning for more.
My first Kraken experience began with a sensory overload. Two massive jumbotrons, affectionately dubbed “the Twins” by the announcers, dominated the arena, showcasing dramatic, dimly lit clips of each player as the crowd roared. A pre-game video, featuring a rugged bartender recounting the legend of the Kraken, set the stage for a night of mythical proportions.
The game itself started with a bang. Just 17 seconds in, Kraken forward Yanni Gourde (Number 37) found himself entangled with Sharks player Luke Kunin (Number 11), resulting in a penalty for holding. While the penalty didn’t lead to a Kraken goal,it did set the tone for a physical,back-and-forth battle.
Regrettably for the Kraken, the Sharks proved to be a formidable opponent. They capitalized on early opportunities, scoring a goal within the first three minutes.the rest of the first period saw the Kraken struggle to penetrate the Sharks’ defense, leaving fans hoping for a more aggressive second period.
the second period brought a glimmer of hope as the Kraken began to find their rhythm. Though, the Sharks’ defense remained steadfast, blocking shot after shot. The highlight of the period, however, was the appearance of Buoy, the Kraken’s mascot. Now, I’m no marine biologist, but I couldn’t help but wonder why a team so heavily invested in deep-sea imagery and mythology chose a troll as their mascot. Perhaps a fearsome kraken would have been a more fitting depiction?
By the third period, the Kraken’s struggles were evident.Disheartened fans began to trickle out of the arena, leaving the remaining faithful to witness a valiant but ultimately unsuccessful comeback attempt.
With less than a minute remaining, the Kraken scored, bringing the score to 4-2. But their joy was short-lived. The goal was overturned due to “goalkeeper interference,” a decision met with boos from the crowd.
Despite the loss, the Kraken faithful remained loyal, cheering on their team until the final buzzer. While the Kraken may have been devoured by the Sharks this time, the energy and passion of the fans left a lasting impression.
The Kraken experience, with its jumbotrons, dramatic pre-game videos, and even a DJ, was undeniably entertaining. Though,a conversation with the kraken’s marketing team about a more fitting mascot might be in order. After all, a kraken mascot would surely strike fear into the hearts of opposing teams.

To gain further insight into this clash of titans, we spoke with renowned sports analyst, Mike Taylor.
ND3: Mike, what were your initial impressions of the Kraken’s performance?
MT: The Kraken certainly started with intensity, but the Sharks proved to be a tougher opponent than anticipated. That early penalty against Gourde set a physical tone, but Seattle struggled to capitalize on their opportunities.
ND3: The second period saw the Kraken gain some momentum. Did you notice any key adjustments from the team?
MT: Absolutely. They started moving the puck more efficiently and created some risky scoring chances. Buoy, the mascot, also energized the crowd, though I have to agree, a kraken mascot might be more fitting for the team’s brand.
ND3: The disallowed goal in the third period seemed to deflate the crowd. Was that a turning point?
MT: Without a doubt. It was a controversial call, and that momentum shift proved too much to overcome. The Kraken fought hard, but the Sharks remained composed defensively.
ND3: Despite the loss, the Kraken fanbase remains passionate. What takeaways do you have for the team moving forward?
MT: This was a learning experience. The Kraken showed glimpses of their potential, but need to be more consistent and clinical in front of the net. They’ve got the talent and the support, now it’s about finding that winning formula.
