Hofstra Alum Kevin Warne Named Assistant Coach for U.S. Men’s Lacrosse Team
Hofstra Alum Kevin Warne joins US Men’s Lacrosse Coaching Staff
Hempstead, NY - The US Men’s Field National Lacrosse Team is gearing up for the 2027 World Lacrosse Men’s Championship in Japan, and a familiar face will be joining the coaching staff. Kevin Warne,a former Hofstra men’s lacrosse standout and 2000 graduate,has been named an assistant coach.
Warne, currently the head coach at Georgetown University, will be working alongside Hofstra Head Coach Seth Tierney, who was named head coach of the US team in April. This reunion marks a homecoming for Warne, who played for the Pride from 1995 to 1999, earning All-America East honors twice and honorable mention All-American recognition as a senior.
“It’s an incredible honor to be part of the US Men’s National team coaching staff,” said Warne. “Working alongside Seth, who I have immense respect for, and contributing to the success of this team is a dream come true.”
Warne’s impressive lacrosse pedigree extends beyond his playing days. After graduating from Hofstra with a degree in psychology, he began his coaching career as an assistant at Plainview-Old Bethpage High School on Long Island.His leadership and expertise have since propelled him to the helm of the Georgetown lacrosse program.Joining Tierney and warne on the US coaching staff are Bobby Benson and Charley Toomey as assistant coaches, Patrick Watson as team operations administrator, and Mike Kettell as equipment manager. This powerhouse team is poised to lead the US to victory on the world stage.
