The RECCO system is a two-part technology used by mountain rescue teams globally.
Performance Features of the MAFATE X Hike
Beyond the safety features, the MAFATE X Hike is designed for performance on challenging trails. It combines cushioning, a carbon fiber plate, and the newly added RECCO reflector. Trail & Kale highlights the shoe’s blend of these technologies, aiming to provide both comfort and responsiveness for hikers.
The shoe’s construction is intended to support long-distance hiking and varied terrain. The carbon fiber plate contributes to a propulsive feel, while the cushioning aims to reduce fatigue during extended use.
RECCO Technology Explained
RECCO technology works by allowing rescue teams to pinpoint the location of individuals carrying RECCO reflectors, even in challenging weather conditions and terrain. The system utilizes detectors sent out by helicopter or ground teams to bounce signals off the reflectors. This technology is used in over 900 mountain rescue operations annually worldwide.
