Waste Collection Schedule Changes Announced for Sicilian Municipalities
Several Sicilian municipalities are adjusting their waste collection schedules in observance of upcoming holidays. Dusty, a waste management company servicing the region, has coordinated with local administrations to implement these changes for Easter Monday, April 25, adn May 1.
Unless otherwise noted below, regular waste collection services will proceed as scheduled on non-holiday dates.
Specific municipality Schedules
Borgetto and Partinico (Palermo Province)
Dusty has announced a suspension of environmental hygiene and separate waste collection services in Partinico and Borgetto for the upcoming holidays: April 1, April 25, and may 1. Residents are advised to note these changes, as some hamlet collection schedules will be altered in the coming weeks.
Santa Flavia (Palermo Province)
In Santa Flavia, mobile collection stations at Piazzetta Sant’Elia, Porticello, the railway station, and Via Indro Montanelli (formerly Covimed) will remain open on April 21 (Easter Monday), April 25, and May 1. All other scheduled services will be suspended.
Termini Imerese (Palermo Province)
Easter Sunday services in Termini Imerese will operate as a normal Sunday, with suspended door-to-door collection. Piazza Duomo and Belvedere will still be swept. On April 21, April 25, and May 1, both door-to-door services and sweeping of Piazza Duomo and Belvedere will be maintained. The Crisone municipal collection center and ecological islands with controlled access will remain open. Manual and mechanized sweeping, bulky waste removal, and the toll-free number service will be suspended.
In districts with experimental door-to-door service, collection will occur between 6 a.m. and 12 p.m. Residents should place bins out the night before. Cleaning of the weekly market will proceed as scheduled on Friday, April 25.
Motta Sant’Anastasia, Misterbianco, and Santa Maria di Licodia (Catania Province)
Door-to-door waste collection and street sweeping will continue as normal in Motta Sant’Anastasia, Misterbianco, and Santa Maria di Licodia on Easter Monday, April 25, and May 1. However, municipal collection centers (including mobile units) and fixed ecological islands will be closed.Bulky waste removal and the toll-free number service will also be unavailable.
Gravina di Catania (Catania Province)
Gravina di Catania will follow a similar schedule, but mechanized sweeping will continue on the specified holidays, while manual sweeping will be suspended.
Paternò (Catania Province)
In Paternò, only door-to-door collection and street sweeping will be active on Easter Monday, April 25, and may 1. The municipal collection center will be closed on Easter Sunday and Easter Monday. It will be open from 8 a.m. to 12 p.m. on Friday, April 25, and will maintain its regular hours on May 1.
Valverde and San Giovanni La Punta (Catania Province)
The municipal collection center in Valverde and the mobile ecological island in San Giovanni La Punta will be closed on April 21, April 25, and May 1.Only door-to-door waste collection will be active in both municipalities on these holidays; all other services will be suspended.
San Gregorio (Catania Province)
In San Gregorio, only door-to-door waste collection will be active on april 21, April 25, and May 1. Street sweeping and the mobile collection center will be closed. The door-to-door schedule is as follows: collection of organic waste on Easter Monday, organic waste collection on friday, april 25, and paper collection on Thursday, May 1.
Barcellona Pozzo di Gotto (Messina Province)
All environmental hygiene and separate collection services will be suspended in Barcellona Pozzo di Gotto on April 21, April 25, and May 1. This includes door-to-door collection, street sweeping, bulky waste removal, and the toll-free number service. Municipal collection centers will also be closed.
Santa Teresa di Riva (Messina Province)
Dusty, in coordination with the Santa Teresa di Riva municipal administration, has suspended waste collection services for the upcoming holidays. However, road sweeping will be maintained throughout the municipality.
Avola (Syracuse Province)
In Avola,door-to-door collection will continue on April 21 and April 25.The municipal collection center will be open from 8 a.m. to 1 p.m. All other services, including bulky waste removal and the toll-free number, will be suspended.
Pachino (Syracuse Province)
Street sweeping of Piazza Vittorio Emanuele and the village of Marzamemi will be maintained on April 21,April 25,and May 1 in Pachino. Door-to-door waste collection will only occur on Easter Monday and May 1.
Portopalo di Capo Passero (Syracuse Province)
Only street sweeping will be active in Portopalo di Capo Passero on April 21 and April 25. Dusty specifies that this service will be carried out in the historic center both in the morning and afternoon on Easter, Easter Monday and April 25. The collection of residual dry waste will be recovered on Friday, May 2.
Caltanissetta (Caltanissetta province)
In Caltanissetta, only door-to-door waste collection will be active on April 21, April 25, and May 1. Street sweeping will be limited to the streets of the historic center. The Cammarella district municipal collection center will be closed, and bulky waste removal and the toll-free number service will be suspended.
