Silksong Localization Under Scrutiny Amidst Strong Launch
Initial Reception & Player Feedback
Despite a remarkably triumphant launch on September 4, 2025, with over half a million concurrent players recorded within 24 hours, Hollow Knight: Silksong is facing criticism regarding its Simplified Chinese localization.
Thousands of Chinese players have expressed dissatisfaction on Steam, citing a lack of nuance and accuracy in the translation. Currently, only 38% of reviews for the Simplified Chinese version are positive, impacting the game’s overall “Mostly Positive” Steam rating.
Team Cherry Responds
Team Cherry acknowledged the concerns and has pledged to address the issues. Matthew Griffin of Team Cherry stated on X (formerly Twitter) that improvements to the Simplified Chinese translation are underway and will be rolled out “over the coming weeks.”
The developer expressed gratitude for the player feedback and support received, emphasizing a commitment to quality.
