Homan argued that border security is the most humane approach to immigration, citing a record reduction in illegal immigration during the Trump administration and recalling a personal award received from President Barack Obama for removing 409,000 people in a single year.

Homan on the Shift in Public Perception of Deportations

During the interview with podcaster Katie Miller, Homan addressed why American society has moved away from supporting deportations, a practice he claimed was more widely accepted 20 years ago. Miller noted that in the 1990s, figures like Senator Harry Reid had questioned the concept of birthright citizenship, suggesting that the removal of families was once viewed as a positive action by a larger portion of society.

Homan attributed this shift to a combination of media influence and educational institutions. He stated that the media has moved people to the left through “false reporting” and that colleges have had a similar effect on individuals, citing his own experience with one of his sons. Homan claimed that 98 percent of the press releases he reads daily are negative and misstate the actual actions of border enforcement.

“I really think it has to do with our president and the hatred for this president,” Homan replied. “They didn’t want to see this president succeed. And I truly believe that because I actually got an award from President Obama for removing the record number of illegal aliens. President Obama gave me an award because we removed 409,000 people that year.”

Comparison of Border Policies and Humanitarian Impacts

Homan contrasted the results of the Trump administration’s policies with those of Joe Biden. He claimed that under Trump, illegal immigration decreased by 96 percent. Homan argued that this reduction prevented cartels from raping women and stopped the entry of fentanyl and suspected terrorists into the United States.

Conversely, Homan alleged that Joe Biden’s decision to “open the border” led to record casualties. He stated that over 4,000 migrants died while attempting the journey to the U.S. and that 250,000 Americans died from fentanyl that entered through the open border. Homan rejected the notion that Trump’s policies were inhumane, asserting that securing the border is the most humane action possible.

Claims Regarding ICE Compliance and Public Safety

Homan argued that the media and members of Congress have normalized noncompliance with U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE). He claimed that when representatives of Congress describe ICE agents as “fascists,” “Nazis,” or “secret police,” it encourages people to interfere with or impede law enforcement operations.

Homan linked this lack of compliance to recent tragedies, including shootings. He stated that if individuals had complied with federal law enforcement during road stops, those deaths could have been avoided. He clarified that while he does not believe people deserve to die, compliance with federal law is the primary way to avoid such outcomes.

“People think it’s okay not to comply with ICE now, because they’re hearing over and over again they’re not a real law enforcement agency. So you can impede, you can interfere, you don’t have to comply with them,” Homan warned.
