Zheng Qinwen Prepares for China Open at Home
Zheng Qinwen has completed her first practice session at the China Open and is looking forward to competing in front of her home crowd.
Following her US Open journey, Chinese tennis player Zheng Qinwen withdrew from the Guadalajara 500 in Mexico and returned to Beijing to prepare for the Chinese season. After a short adjustment, she appeared at the Diamond Stadium of the National Tennis Center on the morning of September 11 and conducted a two-hour training session.
Zheng Qinwen began her practice session with a simple warm-up, followed by baseline ball pulling with two sparring partners, including Zhang Yiwei, a young player from Hubei. The two players demonstrated a strong partnership, having achieved good results together in last year’s China season.
Zheng Qinwen also practiced various technical aspects, including serving, receiving, net, and high-pressure shots. Her coach, Riba, observed her every move and provided guidance throughout the session. After completing her training, Zheng Qinwen seemed to be in high spirits, chatting and laughing with her team members.
The 2024 China Open women’s singles main draw will commence on September 25. As a seeded player, Zheng Qinwen will receive a bye in the first round, with her first match scheduled for September 27 or 28. Fans are eagerly anticipating her performance at home.
