MYND READER, a new band forged in the Boulder, Colorado music scene, will release its debut self-titled album on January 30, 2026. The record is a raw and honest exploration of personal struggle and renewal, built on a foundation of rock and roll.
Drummer Brian Sachs previously found success with The Authority,a popular jam band of the 1990s. Though, MYND READER represents a shift in focus. “The Authority was all about chaos and adrenaline,” Sachs says. “MYND READER feels like that same energy, but with intention and reflection.” He describes the new project as a deliberate effort to create something authentic.
MYND READER also includes multi-instrumentalist Tonin and vocalist/guitarist Shelby Kemp. Sachs and Tonin collaborated to shape Sachs’ lyrics, writen during a difficult time, into fully realized songs. Kemp’s vocals and guitar work then brought those songs to life. “Tonin builds the foundation, I add the heart, and Shelby gives it its voice,” Sachs explains.bassist Zach Jackson and keyboardist Chris Spies complete the band’s live lineup.
The band’s sound blends elements of soulful rock, Americana, and classic influences. They draw comparisons to artists like The Black crowes, My Morning Jacket, Chris Stapleton, Wilco, and Ray LaMontagne, but maintain a unique rock identity. Early singles, including ‘Mourning Light’ and Home, are gaining traction on the Mediabase charts.
