Taiwan Stocks Fluctuate, Foreign Investors’ Net Short Positions Rise
Taiwan stocks fluctuated 597 points today and closed down 40 points at 22,780 points, with foreign investors’ net short positions rising by 39,200.
US technology stocks rose 597.04 points today, with the Taiwan index closing at 22,780.08 points. Shipping stocks rallied, while small and mid-cap stocks turned red.
Market Analysis
The total sales of the three main legal entities exceeded 22.354 billion yuan, with self-operated dealers selling more than 6.82 billion yuan and foreign and mainland investors selling more than 21.337 billion yuan.
In net short positions in Taiwan index futures, net short orders by foreign investors rose by 501 lots to 39,276 lots.
Foreign Investors’ Buying and Selling Trends
Foreign investors bought 21,600 shares of Yang Ming today, ranked first, while Wistron ranked second with 21,300 shares.
Comparatively, foreign investors sold 77,000 Chao UMC shares today and ranked first, CITIC Gold adjusted 37,700 units and ranked second.
Expert Insights
Rong Yishen, deputy general manager of Kida Investment Consulting, analyzed that foreign investors’ net short positions in Taiwan index futures were about 40,000 and the spot market contracted, mainly due to the relative strength of the US dollar.
Yung Yishen noted that selling pressure on Taiwanese stocks was evident in early trading today, and there were signs of funds shifting to lower-grade groups.
Market Outlook
Yung Yishen pointed out that the stock trend after the US election is not pessimistic, and TSMC’s thousand yuan supported pay attention to the US non-farm employment data report tonight and pay attention to the US election trend next week.
