Mayor Hong stated this on his Facebook page that day, saying, “When that friend was singing Hwayangyeonhwa, we were suffering in hell.”
He continued, “They say that (Representative Han) won an overwhelming victory with 62% of the votes, but when I became the leader of the Liberty Korea Party, I received 67% of the votes,” adding, “No matter how much a party should be open to everyone, I absolutely cannot accept someone like that.”
