In a recent interview on the Hong Kong radio show 903 Music, Wong, 34, acknowledged that the criticism she faced was a direct result of her own actions.
The scandal, which involved an affair with married singer Andy Hui, led to a significant backlash against Wong. Her acting career stalled, and she ended her relationship with actor Kenneth Ma. Wong described feeling overwhelmed by the public response at the time, stating she “didn’t know how to handle criticisms.”
“I might have been bothered by the criticisms in the past and did not know how to handle them, but I have since calmed down,” Wong said during the interview, her voice reportedly trembling with nerves. “Frankly speaking, I have heard all types of harsh words. What others said about me was due to my past actions. What I can do now is to do my part, as there are some things not within my control.”
Wong has since embarked on a new path in the entertainment industry, returning as a singer-songwriter in 2023. She released two songs, “Crown Me” and “Punching Bag,” writing both the lyrics and music herself. She appeared on 903 Music to promote “Punching Bag,” admitting she was anxious about returning to live broadcasting after a prolonged absence. “I feel as if my heart is beating uncontrollably and going to pop out soon,” she said.
