Strong Wind Signal No. 3 is now in force. The Observatory has announced that the Gale or Storm Signal No. 8 will be changed to 6:20 pm.
The Observatory stated that at 12 noon, super typhoon Capricorn gathered about 380 kilometers south-southeast of Hong Kong. Typhoon Capricorn has matured. According to current forecasts, Typhoon Capricorn will maintain super typhoon intensity and pass about 300 kilometers southwest of Hong Kong early tomorrow morning. It is expected that related gale force area will affect the Pearl River Estuary area tonight and tomorrow morning. The wind in Hong Kong will gradually increase and the weather will turn bad.
The Observatory also said that the strong rainbands related to Capricorn will gradually affect Hong Kong later today. There will be strong winds and heavy showers tomorrow, and there will be very large waves and swells in the sea. The public is urged to stay away from the shore and stop all water activities.
