Honor is poised to disrupt the Android tablet market with the MagicPad 4, unveiled ahead of its official debut at Mobile World Congress (MWC) . The company is touting the device as the “world’s thinnest” Android tablet, boasting a remarkably slim profile of just 4.8mm – excluding the camera bump – and packing flagship-level specifications.
A New Benchmark for Thinness
According to Honor, the MagicPad 4’s 4.8mm thickness surpasses both the Apple iPad Pro (5.1mm) and the Samsung Galaxy Tab S11, establishing a new benchmark for portability in the high-end tablet space. This represents a full millimeter reduction compared to its predecessor, the MagicPad 3. The pursuit of thinness hasn’t come at the expense of build quality or performance, however. Honor has managed to shave off 145 grams of weight, bringing the MagicPad 4 down to a remarkably light 450 grams.
OLED Returns, and Specs Get a Boost
The MagicPad 4 marks a return to OLED display technology for the series. The new model features a 12.3-inch OLED screen with a fast 165Hz refresh rate, a significant upgrade from the LCD panel used in the previous generation. While the screen size is slightly smaller than before, Honor anticipates improvements in image quality, black levels, and overall responsiveness.
Under the hood, the MagicPad 4 is powered by the Qualcomm Snapdragon 8 Gen 5 processor, paired with up to 16GB of RAM and 512GB of storage. Honor hasn’t overlooked the importance of audio and imaging. The MagicPad 4 incorporates eight speakers to deliver immersive spatial audio, enhancing the multimedia experience. The device is equipped with a 13MP rear camera and a 9MP front-facing camera for video conferencing and content creation.
MagicOS 10 and Taiwan Market Entry
The MagicPad 4 will run MagicOS 10, Honor’s custom Android skin based on Android 16. The company is also preparing to enter the Taiwan market, though the exact operational model – whether through a local agent or a direct subsidiary like Xiaomi – remains to be seen. A dedicated team is already in place, reportedly including personnel with experience from other mobile brands.
Broader Expansion and a Mysterious Robot
The MWC unveiling on is expected to reveal full product details, pricing, and availability. Honor will also be showcasing a previously teased “peculiar robot” equipped with computer vision and a three-axis camera capable of smartphone integration. The company has already secured Taiwan NCC certification for the Honor Magic 8 Pro, and is set to open its first brand store in Taipei’s Sanyuan Ecoplaza, replacing a former Realme location. A prominent billboard featuring brand ambassador Xie Tingfeng (Nicholas Tse) signals a serious commitment to the Taiwanese market.
