World Fisheries Day 2024: Promoting Sustainable Fisheries and Healthy Ocean Ecosystems
The Ministry of Fisheries will organize activities on Le Morne public beach as part of this world day which takes place every November 21.
Importance of World Fisheries Day
The Cabinet has identified the organization of activities in the context of World Fisheries Day 2024, which is celebrated on 21 November each year, with the aim of drawing attention to the vital importance of healthy ocean ecosystems and ensuring sustainable stocks of fisheries in the world.
Activities on Le Morne Public Beach
The Ministry of the Green Economy, Marine Resources, Fisheries and Shipping, in collaboration with the Fishermen’s Welfare Fund, would organize the following activities on Le Morne Public Beach:
- Inter-religious prayers;
- A wreath-laying ceremony;
- A parade by the National Coast Guard.
