First National Fitness Competition (South China) Basketball Competition Concludes in Lianjiang, Guangdong
Zhanjiang, September 24 – The three-day First National Fitness Competition (South China) Basketball Competition concluded at the Lianjiang City Gymnasium in Guangdong Province on the evening of September 23. A total of 12 teams from Guangdong, Guangxi, and Hainan participated in the competition.
The competition was divided into two groups: five-person basketball (male and female groups) and three-person basketball (male and female groups). The five-person competition adopted a single round-robin scoring system, while the three-person competition adopted a double round-robin system. The four teams of the host Guangdong team won all the games, becoming the biggest winners of the basketball event in the South China region of the National Fitness Competition. They will have the opportunity to advance and represent the three provinces in the South China region in the national finals.
The most exciting and intense competition on the 23rd was the silver medal battle for the women’s five-a-side event between the Guangxi team and the Hainan team in the afternoon. After falling behind by more than ten points in the first two quarters, the Hainan team fought back in the third quarter to narrow the gap and evened the score at the end of the fourth quarter. the Guangxi team won by two points with a tenacious defensive counterattack and won the second place in the event.
Four teams, including the Danzhou Huanggang team of Hainan Province, the Nanning High-tech Industrial Development Zone Basketball Association of Guangxi, the Haikou Qihang team of Hainan Province, and the Liujiang District Basketball Association of Liuzhou City of Guangxi, won the Sports Ethics and Style Award of this competition.
The purpose of this competition is to promote the national fitness movement, improve the physical quality and health level of the people, and at the same time build a broad stage for basketball fans to show themselves and exchange skills. The contestants learned from each other and made progress together in the competition, showing good sportsmanship and moral values.
