Fujian-Hong Kong-Macao-Taiwan “Tongxin Cup” Basketball Invitational Tournament Kicks Off

Fuzhou, September 6 (Xinhua) — The first Fujian-Hong Kong-Macao-Taiwan “Tongxin Cup” Basketball Invitational Tournament opened at the Fujian Olympic Sports Center Gymnasium on the evening of September 6. In the first match, the Fujian Jinjiang Cultural Tourism Team defeated the Taiwan Beer Team 125:92, winning a “good start”.

The three-day event invited four professional men’s basketball teams, Fujian Jinjiang Cultural Tourism Team, Hong Kong Golden Bulls Team, Macau Black Bears Team, and Taiwan Beer Team, as well as four youth men’s basketball teams from Fujian, Hong Kong, Macau and Taiwan to participate. The opening match was between Fujian Jinjiang Cultural Tourism Team and Taiwan Beer Team. Since the first quarter, the Fujian Jinjiang Cultural Tourism Team was in full swing, leading the score all the way. Foreign aid Bailey Steele scored 40 points to help the team expand its advantage and eventually won 125:92.

Liu Yudong, chairman of the Fujian Basketball Association, said: “We build a platform for communication by hosting basketball events, hoping to allow more young people to communicate and get to know each other better.” According to Liu Yudong, in addition to the competition on the court, the organizing committee has also planned a variety of related activities such as basketball stars entering campuses to promote youth exchanges from basketball to culture and other aspects.
