Fujian Hosts First-Ever “Tongxin Cup” Basketball⁣ Invitational Tournament

Fuzhou News Network, September 6th(Reporter Xie Min/Text Zhang Xuyang/Photo) The 2024 ⁣Fujian Province⁢ First Fujian-Hong Kong-Macao-Taiwan​ “Tongxin Cup”​ Basketball Invitational‍ Basketball Night Super Ceremony took place in​ Fuzhou, featuring over a⁢ dozen Chinese basketball legends, including CBA “God of War” Liu Yudong, China’s⁤ first NBA player Wang Zhizhi, “Chinese Jordan” Hu Weidong, former ‌Chinese women’s basketball center​ Zheng Haixia, and‍ Fujian national player Wang Zhelin.

Zheng Haixia⁣ expressed her delight at the ⁢development of basketball in ‌Fujian Province, ‌stating, “I am very happy to see that basketball in Fujian Province has developed so well.”‍ Wang Zhelin, who hails ​from Fuzhou, shared ⁤his fondness for the city, saying, “Fuzhou is still as friendly as ever. After all,‌ it is my hometown. No matter ⁤how⁣ long I have ⁢been away, I am ⁢still familiar with it. I hope that more‍ competitions will be held in Fuzhou in the future.”

The basketball night featured a red carpet show by Chinese basketball‍ stars, cultural performances, and the opening match⁢ of the tournament. The Fujian Jinjiang Cultural Tourism Basketball Team emerged victorious against the ⁣Taiwan Beer⁢ Basketball Team in the opening match.

Themed “Inheriting the Dragon Vein, Pursuing‌ Dreams Together,” the event is jointly organized by the Provincial Sports⁢ Bureau and ‌the Provincial Overseas Friendship Association. The three-day competition features the four⁤ strongest club teams and four youth teams from Fujian, Hong Kong, Macao, ⁢and Taiwan. The​ participating teams include the ⁣Fujian Jinjiang Cultural ⁣Tourism Basketball ⁢Team,⁤ Hong Kong Golden Bull United ‌Team, Macau Black Bear Club, and Taiwan Beer Basketball Team, as well as the Fujian ​Youth Basketball Team, Hong Kong Golden Bull Youth United Team, Macau Peizheng Middle School Basketball Team, and Taiwan Kaohsiung Sanmin Family Commercial Men’s Basketball Team.

Throughout the event, basketball​ stars and athletes will be invited​ to campus, and a ‍Fujian-Hong Kong-Macao-Taiwan Family Carnival will be held. The organizers aim to use basketball as​ a‌ medium ​to‍ build a new platform for⁣ exchanges⁢ between Fujian, Hong Kong, Macao, and Taiwan, promoting in-depth and practical exchanges between⁤ the people of​ these regions and providing a⁢ unique “one-stop” exchange experience for friends from Hong Kong, Macao, and Taiwan.
