Fujian Province Hosts First “Tongxin Cup” Basketball Invitational Tournament

More than a dozen Chinese basketball legends appeared, including CBA “God of War” Liu Yudong, China’s first NBA player Wang Zhizhi, “Chinese Jordan” Hu Weidong, former Chinese women’s basketball center Zheng Haixia, Fujian national player Wang Zhelin, etc.

“I am very happy to see that basketball in Fujian Province has developed so well.” Zheng Haixia said. Wang Zhelin said that Fuzhou is still as friendly as ever. After all, it is his hometown. No matter how long he has been away, he is still familiar with it. “I hope that more competitions will be held in Fuzhou in the future.”

The basketball night that night included a red carpet show by Chinese basketball stars, cultural performances, the opening match of the tournament, etc. In the opening match, the Fujian Jinjiang Cultural Tourism Basketball Team defeated the Taiwan Beer Basketball Team.

It is reported that this event is themed “Inheriting the Dragon Vein, Pursuing Dreams Together” and is jointly organized by the Provincial Sports Bureau and the Provincial Overseas Friendship Association. The competition lasts for three days and invites the four strongest club teams and four youth teams from Fujian, Hong Kong, Macao and Taiwan to participate. Among them, the four clubs are Fujian Jinjiang Cultural Tourism Basketball Team, Hong Kong Golden Bull United Team, Macau Black Bear Club, and Taiwan Beer Basketball Team. The four youth teams are Fujian Youth Basketball Team, Hong Kong Golden Bull Youth United Team, Macau Peizheng Middle School Basketball Team and Taiwan Kaohsiung Sanmin Family Commercial Men’s Basketball Team, allowing basketball enthusiasts across the province to experience high-level basketball confrontation at their “doorstep”.

During the event, basketball stars and athletes will be invited to campus, and a Fujian-Hong Kong-Macao-Taiwan Family Carnival will be held. The organizers said that the purpose of organizing this event is to use basketball as a medium to build a new platform for exchanges between Fujian, Hong Kong, Macao and Taiwan, promote in-depth and practical exchanges between the people of Fujian, Hong Kong, Macao and Taiwan, and let friends from Hong Kong, Macao and Taiwan share a “one-stop” exchange experience.
