Horneland Still Courted by ASSE to Succeed Dall’Oglio
Saint-Étienne Parts Ways with Dall’Oglio, Eyes Fast Replacement
Saint-Étienne, France – Just two days after being relieved of his duties, Olivier Dall’Oglio has amicably parted ways with AS Saint-Étienne. The 60-year-old coach’s contract, which ran until June 2025, was terminated following a string of three consecutive losses in Ligue 1, culminating in a 1-2 defeat against Toulouse.Dall’Oglio’s assistant,Grégory Pérès,has also left the club. This amicable departure allows the club to avoid legal delays associated with a formal dismissal, paving the way for a swift appointment of Dall’Oglio’s successor. Speculation is rife that the club could announce a new head coach by the end of the week.
In the meantime, Laurent Huard, director of the ASSE training center, is expected to take charge of the first team for their final match of the year – a Coupe de France Round of 32 clash against Olympique de marseille on Sunday afternoon.
However, Huard’s role is expected to be temporary. The club’s board, currently facing relegation battles, is eager to appoint a new coach before the team resumes training on December 29th, allowing ample time for the new manager to implement their strategies and prepare for the crucial second half of the season.
