Alabama Woman Arrested for Grisly Murder of 41-Year-Old Husband
A shocking murder has shaken the community in Alabama, USA. According to local police, 41-year-old Benito Morales Guzman was found dismembered and beheaded at his home, leading to the arrest of his 26-year-old wife, Joselina Elizabeth Lopez.
The tragedy occurred on August 27, when the Alabama Law Enforcement Agency confirmed that Mr. Guzman’s body was found in a home in Slocombe, Alabama. The Geneva County coroner identified the victim and revealed that his body was not only decapitated but also completely dismembered.
As the investigation progressed, police announced the arrest of Ms. Lopez on August 29, charging her with crimes related to the murder. The police became involved in the investigation after Mr. Guzman’s colleagues notified the sheriff’s office that he failed to show up for work on time.
Upon arriving at the scene, police discovered a strong stench of decay emanating from a car. According to ALEA’s attorney Philip Schuler, police found several bags of garbage in the car containing Mr. Guzman’s dismembered body, as well as a blood-stained chainsaw, knives, and cleaning supplies.
Authorities described the gruesome scene, stating, “There was even human flesh left on the chainsaw.” Furthermore, police found blood stains on a diaper bag containing baby formula, raising concerns about the presence of innocent children at the time of the incident.
The couple has a 4-year-old child with autism and an undisclosed disability. The coroner confirmed that prosecutors and investigators suspected the child may have been at the scene when the mother committed the violence.
Ms. Lopez claimed in court that her actions were in self-defense, but the judge rejected her statement and denied her bail application. It is currently unclear whether Ms. Lopez has pleaded guilty or hired a lawyer to defend her.
