In Missouri, north Kansas City Hospital and Meritas Health have officially merged, creating NKC Health. Officials said the unified system aims to improve patient care coordination and enhance the overall patient experience. Meanwhile, the University of Mississippi Medical Center (UMMC), based in Jackson, Miss.,has finalized its acquisition of Merit Health Madison,a 67-bed hospital in Canton,Miss. Now operating as UMMC Madison,the facility strengthens UMMC’s presence in the state. The acquisition builds upon a pre-existing relationship that began in 2019, with UMMC physicians providing services at Merit health Madison.
Though, not all proposed affiliations come to fruition. Santiam Hospital and Clinics, located in Stayton, Ore., and Samaritan Health Services, based in Corvallis, Ore., have mutually decided to abandon their planned merger. In a released statement, both systems affirmed their dedication to serving their respective communities and will explore future collaborations. The reasons behind the decision were not disclosed.
