The Centers for Medicare & Medicaid Services (CMS) has penalized two hospitals for allegedly violating hospital price transparency rules. Arkansas Methodist Medical Center and Community Care Hospital in Louisiana face fines for noncompliance, according to a CMS update.
Arkansas methodist Medical Center, a 114-bed facility in Paragould, was fined $309,738. CMS cited 247 days of alleged noncompliance, spanning from Sept. 9, 2024, to May 13, 2025. This penalty represents the largest fine issued by CMS to a hospital in 2025 and ranks as the sixth-highest overall for price transparency violations.
Community Care Hospital, a 38-bed hospital located in New Orleans, received a fine of $93,214. The agency determined the hospital was allegedly noncompliant for 223 days, from Oct. 3,2024,to May 13,2025.
Both hospitals have the option to appeal the fines within 30 days of issuance. CMS has now fined 27 hospitals in total for hospital price transparency violations,with 10 of those penalties issued in 2025.
