Starting May 7, 2025, U.S. citizens, permanent residents, and immigrants must present a Real ID for entry into federal buildings, military facilities, nuclear sites, and for domestic flights. This ID replaces traditional state driver’s licenses. If you are in Orlando, Florida, here’s how to obtain your Real ID.

Real ID is a federally issued identification provided by states to enhance security standards for driver’s licenses. It features a star symbol in the upper right corner.

To obtain your Real ID in Orlando, you need specific documents. The requirements vary depending on whether you are a U.S. citizen or not:

For U.S. Citizens:

  • Valid U.S. passport.
  • Original or certified copy of your birth certificate.
  • Consular report of birth abroad.
  • Naturalization certificate from the Department of Homeland Security (DHS).
  • Citizenship certificate.
  • Social Security card.
  • Documents proving your main residence.

If your name differs from your birth certificate due to marriage:

  • Court-ordered name change document.
  • Marriage or divorce certificate.

For Non-Citizens:

  • Valid permanent resident card.
  • Non-immigrant passport (except asylum seekers and refugees).
  • Government-issued document showing your full name.
