How to Train Your Dragon Live-Action Remake Trailer Leaks: Fans Rave About Toothless
The first trailer for the live-action remake of How to Train Your Dragon has leaked online. Fans have mixed feelings about the remake, but they agree on one point: Toothless looks amazing.
DreamWorks created iconic cartoons like Shrek and The Prince of Egypt. Despite its success, the How to Train Your Dragon trilogy often feels overlooked among the best animated movies of the last 20 years.
Next year, DreamWorks will follow Disney’s lead with a live-action version of the first film. Director Dean DeBlois, who directed all previous How to Train Your Dragon movies, will return for this remake.
The trailer reveals stunning visuals, including crashing waves and Hiccup, played by Mason Thames, sitting on a cliff. DeBlois filmed on location, avoiding heavy use of green screens or VFX.
Gerard Butler reprises his role as Stoick the Vast, Hiccup’s father. The live-action Toothless also impresses fans. Unlike the less expressive animals in The Lion King remake, Toothless retains his charm and looks more lifelike.
Fans express their excitement on social media. One user said, “Toothless looks so amazing I’m crying tears of joy.” Another added, “Kudos to Dean DeBlois for working hard to protect the original story.” A fourth fan shared, “They didn’t butcher my baby Toothless, we’ll take the win.”
The How to Train Your Dragon live-action remake will be in theaters on June 13, 2025.
