Hewlett Packard has quietly launched a free ad-supported streaming service called HP TV+ for Windows 11 PCs, aiming to grow its advertising ambitions by capitalizing on laptop-based viewing habits.
The service, which rolled out in March 2026, offers instant access to live channels, movies, and TV shows without requiring an account, subscription, or payment. Content begins playing immediately upon opening the app, positioning it as a background entertainment option for users seeking low-effort viewing.
HP TV+ aggregates content from publishers including USA Today, PBS, and Tennis Channel, featuring a mix of live news, cooking, crime, and sports channels alongside a rotating library of older titles and niche programming. The app does not emphasize latest blockbusters or trending series, instead focusing on always-on streaming channels and familiar formats similar to Pluto TV and Tubi.
The service is available through the Microsoft Store and can be installed on virtually any Windows 11 PC, though It’s designed with HP devices in mind. It also supports Windows 10 and ARM64 devices. As of late March 2026, the app holds a 4.1 rating in the Microsoft Store based on user reviews.
HP positions TV+ as part of its broader HP Media Network, an ad network launched the previous summer that sells ad placements on the company’s personal computers. According to HP, 43% of laptop users stream video, creating a target audience for the service’s ad-supported model.
Industry observers note that HP TV+ enters a crowded free streaming market and does not currently offer distinctive features that would make it a must-have service. Instead, it functions as another option for background viewing when users do not want to engage deeply with content selection on platforms like Netflix or YouTube.
The launch reflects a broader trend among PC manufacturers to build proprietary software ecosystems to explore new revenue streams, particularly in advertising and media. HP’s strategy centers on leveraging its PC user base to create addressable audiences for advertisers through owned and operated digital properties.
HP has not disclosed specific user numbers, advertising revenue targets, or content partnership terms for HP TV+. The company describes the service as a personal entertainment hub that includes music channels from Stingray, such as the exclusive HP Cozy Café channel featuring chill beats for work or relaxation.
