Hong Kong currently leads the world in ipos, with 27 companies raising $9.96 billion so far this year, according to the london Stock Exchange Group. India’s two major stock exchanges rank fourth and fifth, with 113 companies raising $7.72 billion during the same period. This IPO boom makes Asia a key area for investment banking and wealth management.

Liao noted Hong Kong’s importance as both a listing market and a hub for international investors. This has prompted HSBC to expand its capacity to serve a growing wealth management clientele that extends beyond the city’s 7.5 million residents.
