Wiener Neustadt Students Dominate European Robotics Championship
INNSBRUCK, Austria – Students from Wiener Neustadt Higher Technical Institute (HTL) showcased their robotics prowess at the recent European Robotics Championship “Ecer25” in Innsbruck, securing multiple top prizes.The competition challenged teams to develop autonomous robots capable of performing tasks in a simulated emergency kitchen environment.
RoboKitchen Relief: A Challenge in Automation
The core objective of the “Ecer25” competition was to devise technological solutions for real-world challenges, specifically simulating food supply scenarios following natural disasters. Teams where tasked with programming robots to independently prepare meals, including hamburgers, hot dogs, and tacos. The ability to fry fries and serve food accurately was also a key component of the challenge.
Team “Mendeljeff” takes Top Honors
The “Mendeljeff” team from Wiener Neustadt HTL emerged victorious in the youth competition,surpassing their peers,including the “Cheese Wizards,” who also hail from HTL. The HTL teams returned home with a significant number of awards, solidifying their reputation in the field of robotics.
Aerial Junior Category Success
In the Aerial Junior category, HTL teams “Rieleck Prime” and “flying Hirsch” secured second and third place, respectively, further demonstrating the depth of talent within the Wiener Neustadt HTL program.
Special Awards Recognize Innovation
Beyond the main competition categories, several special awards were presented.The Judges’ Choice Award, recognizing innovative 3D printing, was awarded to “Team Hex Cat.” The Paper Award, celebrating outstanding publication achievements, was given to all five participating HTL teams. Additionally, the teams “F2p” and “Mendeljeff” were jointly recognized with the Spirit of Botball or Spirit of ECER25 award for their collaborative spirit and sportsmanship.
Participants Reflect on International Camaraderie
Limar Aldoughly and Leon Akrap, participants in the championship, shared their positive experiences: “The event in Innsbruck was fantastic. We not only had a lot of fun, we also were able to forge new friendships with participants from Kuwait, China, and Poland.”
