Huang Xiaowen bounced back from defeat at the Paris Olympics to win gold at the World Boxing Federation’s year-end sports competition.
Taiwanese boxer Huang Xiaowen won the gold medal in the women’s 54kg category at the World Boxing Federation’s year-end competition. This victory follows her disappointment at the Paris Olympics, where she faced a referee’s misjudgment. After the Olympics, she took a brief rest and then trained intensively in Japan.
In the gold medal match, Huang defeated Mongolian champion Yesugen Woinsetseg with a score of 4-1. Coach Liu Zhongtai noted that Huang faced significant pressure before the competition, especially after fracturing her right big toe shortly before the match. The gold medal has greatly increased Huang’s confidence.
Huang Xiaowen’s success at the World Boxing Federation finals is a positive step toward recovery from her injury. Liu Zhongtai plans to focus on her rehabilitation and training for future competitions, especially the 2026 Nagoya Asian Games.
In addition to Huang’s win, Liu Yushan, who is following her father’s footsteps, secured a bronze medal in the women’s 50 kg category by reaching the top four in her event. This achievement holds special meaning for her career.
