Hangzhou Tennis Championships: Huang Zelin Advances to Main Draw
Huang Zelin, a Mongolian-born Chinese golfer, has advanced to the top 32 in the main draw of the ATP 250 Hangzhou Tennis Open. He defeated Terigele 2:1 in the men’s second round qualifier.
Huang Zelin, who reached the top 8 of the Asian Games in Hangzhou last year, returned to the “Blessed Land” and attacked as the No. 4 seed in the qualifying rounds. Yesterday, he defeated China’s Xiao Linang 2:0 in the first round.
Huang Zelin played his first ATP Tour event at the Hong Kong Open as a “wild card” at the beginning of this year. This is the first time he has qualified for the main draw through the qualifying rounds with a world ranking.
After advancing, Huang Zelin met Chinese golfer Wu Yibing again in the first round. The two met in the top 16 of the Asian Games in Hangzhou a year ago. At the time, the Hong Kong player took 6 ahead: 3 in the first set, but lost to his opponent in the second set 6:3 to equalize.
Wu Yibing, whose highest ranking in the world has risen to 54th, received a “wild card” by the competition to participate after staying away from the arena for half a year.
Huang Zelin expressed his hope to return to this “wonderful country” to create another miracle. He also mentioned this race before leaving for Hangzhou a few days ago.
