Huatai Securities has advised investors to focus on domestic automakers’ high-end vehicle models ahead of the 2026 Beijing International Automotive Exhibition, citing expectations of continued domestic sales recovery and export growth driven by high oil prices.
The brokerage noted that the year-on-year rebound in passenger car sales in March benefited from both domestic and overseas factors. Domestically, the full implementation of the old-for-new policy and local subsidies for first-time car purchases contributed to a seasonal market rebound since late March. On the export side, global oil price fluctuations have increased overseas demand for new energy vehicles, with Chinese brands maintaining strong performance in international markets.
Looking ahead to the second quarter, Huatai Securities expects domestic sales to continue recovering due to the intensive launch of new vehicles at the Beijing Auto Show. On the export front, high oil prices are anticipated to accelerate progress toward oil-electric parity in Europe and Southeast Asia, further highlighting China’s advantages in new energy vehicles.
The firm recommends concentrating on whole vehicle companies with global operations, strong industry chain integration, and proven cost reduction capabilities. The 2026 Beijing Auto Show, scheduled to open on April 24 at the China International Exhibition Center (Shunyi Hall) and the Capital International Convention & Exhibition Center, will feature a total exhibition area of 380,000 square meters—the largest in the event’s history—under the theme “Leading the Era, Intelligent Future.”
