Huawei has officially launched its first AI-powered smart glasses, marking the company’s entry into the competitive AI eyewear market. The announcement was made alongside the Pura 90 series launch event on April 21, 2026, with He Gang, CEO of Huawei’s consumer business, wearing the glasses during the presentation.
The Huawei AI Glasses feature a self-developed AI chip designed specifically for eyewear, enabling real-time translation, voice interaction, and multimodal AI capabilities. According to Huawei, the glasses support live streaming and video calls from a first-person perspective, allowing users to share their view directly through the device.
Additional functions include the ability to estimate and track food calories, make payments by scanning QR codes, and access various AI-driven services through Huawei’s Xiaoyi assistant. The glasses integrate with the HarmonyOS ecosystem, offering seamless connectivity with other Huawei devices.
Weighing just 35.5 grams, the Huawei AI Glasses are constructed with a titanium hinge for durability and comfort. The device is priced from 2,499 yuan (approximately US$367), positioning it in the mid-to-high range of the smart eyewear market.
Huawei’s launch intensifies competition in the AI glasses sector, where Meta currently holds an estimated 85 percent market share based on 2025 shipment data from Omdia. Meta’s Ray-Ban Stories and Oakley Meta lines have driven significant growth in the category, prompting increased activity from Chinese tech firms including Alibaba, Xiaomi, and Rokid.
The release represents a renewed effort in Huawei’s smart eyewear product line, which previously focused on basic functions such as translation. By incorporating advanced AI processing on-device and expanding functionality to include health tracking and contactless payments, Huawei aims to differentiate its offering in a crowded market.
Industry analysts note that the smart eyewear market experienced a 35-fold increase in shipments during 2025, reflecting growing consumer interest in AI-integrated wearable technology. Huawei’s entry adds momentum to this trend, particularly within China’s rapidly expanding smart eyewear sector.
