Huawei will launch the Mate 70 series and the Mate X6 foldable phone tomorrow. These devices will feature HarmonyOS Next, a new operating system based on a different kernel.
The updated user interface will introduce new features and gesture controls. A teaser indicates that users can transfer files between devices without touching them. Richard Yu, Huawei’s CEO of the Consumer Business Division, appears in the promotional video.
The video showcases the Huawei Mate X6, highlighting its large camera module on the back. It also features a likely new MatePad Pro 12.2 tablet. The clip concludes with a glimpse of the Mate 70, which has three punch holes at the front.
To use the new gesture feature, a user must make a palm-to-fist motion to start the file transfer. A subsequent gesture sends the file, and then moving a closed fist over another screen will drop the file.
This innovation seems exciting, but we will need to test it in real-world scenarios after the official launch.
