Revolutionary “Helmet” Airbags
The Luxeed V9 will be the first vehicle in the world to integrate “helmet” or surround airbags directly into the seats. Developed by Yanfeng Automotive Interior Systems, this groundbreaking technology works as follows:
* Pre-Collision Detection: Utilizing the car’s ADAS systems, the vehicle detects an imminent impact.
* Automated Seat Adjustment: The seat automatically reclines and retracts to a safer position.
* Inflatable “Helmet”: An airbag integrated within the seat deploys, surrounding the passenger’s head and shoulders, acting as an inflatable helmet.
This system, combined with conventional side airbags, aims to considerably reduce forward movement and lumbar forces during a collision. Yanfeng showcased this concept in 2023, and it’s now heading to mass production.
