Hubble Telescope Detects New Astronomical Object
Astronomers using the Hubble Space Telescope have detected a fully new type of astronomical object – a discovery researchers are calling a major milestone in cosmic exploration. The object, named “Cloud-9,” is a cloud dominated by dark matter and rich in hydrogen, but lacking any bright stars, something never before confirmed in the universe.
Located about 14 million light-years from Earth, near the spiral galaxy Messier 94 (M94),Cloud-9 represents a predicted class of objects called RELHIC (Reionization-Limited HI Cloud),which until now was only theoretical.relhics are clouds of neutral hydrogen that haven’t been able to form stars due to insufficient mass or density, despite containing a large amount of invisible dark matter – the mysterious substance that makes up the majority of the universe’s mass.
