Human Skull Found in Goodwill Donations

A human skull discovered inside a donation bin at a Chelsea, Massachusetts retail center in January has been formally turned over to the Federal Bureau of Investigation, according to local law enforcement authorities.

The remains were initially found among a set of items dropped off at the Goodwill Donation Center located at 1167 S. Main St., local police previously confirmed.

Investigators determined through subsequent examination that the item was not a medical specimen, prompting the transfer of custody to federal authorities for further analysis and origin tracing.

Police have released few additional details regarding the ongoing inquiry into how the human remains ended up at the retail drop-off location.
