Spencer Pratt Announces Mayoral Bid, Cites 2022 Palisades Fire as Catalyst for Change
Reality television personality Spencer Pratt formally announced his candidacy for Los Angeles mayor on January 9, 2026, marking the fourth anniversary of a devastating wildfire that impacted Pacific Palisades. Pratt framed his decision as a response to what he described as a stalled administration and a need for fresh leadership in the city.
Speaking at an event commemorating the fire, Pratt asserted that the current Los Angeles leadership has reached a dead end and that only a new mayor can deliver meaningful change, according to the BBC.
The 2022 Palisades fire burned nearly 1,600 acres and forced the evacuation of thousands of residents. According to the california Department of Forestry and Fire Protection (CAL FIRE), the fire destroyed at least 21 structures.
