The decision follows his early exit, after five innings, from Tuesday night’s game against the Milwaukee Brewers. This latest groin issue for Greene, a key player in Cincinnati’s MLB season, raises concerns about his availability.
Reds manager Terry Francona noted that Greene reported feeling the discomfort late in the fifth inning of their 4-2 victory. Greene had only recently returned from a 15-day injured list stint due to a similar groin strain suffered in early May. He alerted the athletic trainer during his warm-up before the fourth inning on Tuesday.
“It’s not as bad (as what he felt in Atlanta) but it still grabbed,” Greene said.He expressed frustration, emphasizing his desire to consistently compete. “It’s not concerning,it’s frustrating.
