Hurricane Helen Brings Destruction to the United States
Foreign news agencies from Washington, United States reported on September 28 that the National Hurricane Center (NHC) and the Federal Emergency Management Agency (FIMA) of the United States reported that Hurricane Helen was level 4 on the Saffir-Simpson Storm Scale.
Landing in Florida in the southeastern part of the country on Thursday, the storm moved further into Georgia, South Carolina, and the state of North Carolina.
Although the storm continues to weaken as it moves inland, many US agencies are still warning the public to be careful of the dangers of strong winds, flash floods, and storm waves hitting the shore, as well as the risk of hurricanes.
Local media in the United States reported that at least 17 people died as a result of Hurricane Helen in South Carolina, at least 15 in Georgia, at least 8 in Florida, at least 2 in North Carolina, and at least 1 case in Virginia.
Hurricane Helen is the 14th strongest hurricane with sustained winds in US history and has a diameter of about 675 kilometers, second only to Hurricane “Ida” in 2017 and Hurricane “Opal” in 1996, which had the same diameter, about 739 kilometers.
