The Drugs (Prices Control) Order, 2013, prohibits selling medicines above the MRP. Violators may face penalties under the Essential Commodities Act, which includes imprisonment and fines.
VB Kamalasan Reddy, IPS, the Director General of DCA, stated, “Contravention of drug pricing rules is a serious offense. Action will be taken against all offenders in accordance with the law.”

The DCA encourages the public to report any violations involving medicines. They have set up a toll-free number, 1800-599-6969, available from 10:30 AM to 5 PM on working days for such reports.
