Hyundai has introduced a new electric car to the Czech market, with prices starting at 539,990 crowns. The vehicle boasts a surprisingly practical interior.

According to a Hyundai executive, ​ It is such a small big ⁤car. ⁣ This description accurately‍ reflects the vehicle’s appeal, as its size, both inside and out, is a key feature of this square hatchback.

The car is based on the Korean model Casper, which is produced with an internal combustion engine.However, ther are significant differences, particularly in size. The wheelbase ⁣is stretched to ​2580 mm, exceeding that ​of the Skoda Fabia. With a length of 3810 ⁣mm ⁢and a width of 1610 mm,‌ it fits into the class of the smallest cars. the vehicle⁢ is primarily a four-seater,‌ although a five-seat version with a solid rear bench is planned.

One of the car’s main advantages ‌is its versatility, reminiscent of the first renault Twingo. The ⁤split rear ⁣seats slide ​16 cm,have an adjustable backrest slope of 28 degrees,and can be folded ​down. Furthermore, the passenger seat and even the driver’s seat can be folded, allowing occupants to sleep ⁤in the car ‍in an emergency.

There is ample space for adults in the back,and⁣ two adults‌ can sit comfortably ⁢side-by-side in ‍the front. The trunk⁣ offers a‌ basic volume of 280 liters, which can be adjusted between 238 ​and 351 liters by moving the ​rear seats, and expanded to 1059 liters when the seats are folded down. The absence of a central⁣ tunnel in the front allows for easy movement between the driver and passenger seats.

Unlike Hyundai’s other⁣ recent ‌electric innovations,this model is based on an ‍originally combustion architecture with front-wheel drive. As it is not a dedicated electric platform, it is designated Ioniq 1, a designation reserved for models on⁢ a ​full-fledged e-GMP platform.

Battery and Performance

The ‍car is not a high-speed sprinter, accelerating ‍to 100 km/h in 11.7 and 10.6 seconds, respectively. It‌ reaches top speeds of 140 km/h⁣ and 150 ⁤km/h, differentiating it from models like the Dacia Spring.

Charging and Features

The charging power peaks at⁤ 72 ‌kW for the smaller battery and 85.3 kW ⁣for the larger battery, compatible with at least 120​ kW ​chargers. hyundai claims a flat charging curve, with a charging time of approximately⁢ 32 minutes from 10% to 80%.The car supports 11 kW charging with alternating current and features a V2L (Vehicle-to-Load) function ‍with external and internal sockets, capable⁤ of powering other ⁣electrical appliances up to 3.6 kW.

Battery preheating is standard on the Style trim⁤ level, while it is available as part of a‍ package for 25,000 crowns,‍ along with a heat pump, ⁣on the base model.​ Hyundai also includes the ‌heat pump as standard⁤ equipment from ​the‍ second trim level.

Driving Experience

The car delivers a surprisingly mature and confident ​driving experience. The chassis, combined with 15-inch wheels, effectively absorbs uneven road ⁢surfaces without excessive swaying, unlike some Chinese electric vehicles. The elongated wheelbase contributes to ⁣stable cornering, even during more dynamic driving.

The‌ steering is precise,and the car feels rigid,making it ⁢suitable for city driving. it offers one-pedal​ driving control ⁢and the option to completely disable⁢ energy recuperation. The car performs adequately on highways, with the tested model reaching a top speed of 150 km/h, ensuring it can handle ⁤long climbs‌ without issue.

The interior features two 10.25-inch screens and familiar Hyundai controls. The center panel has a distinctive design. While hard plastics ⁤are⁤ prevalent, they are well-fitted and do not appear cheap. With the right upholstery, the cabin can ⁣have ⁢a cheerful ambiance.

Real-world energy consumption tests are pending, but initial observations suggest consumption of just over 10 kWh/100 km in the city and around ‌15 kWh/100⁣ km in combined driving conditions.other Czech journalists have reported consumption between 13 and 14 kWh/100 km on the motorway, possibly even lower with⁣ careful driving.

The Cross version ⁤costs 709,990 crowns and corresponds to⁢ the Style trim with LED lights and V2L,‍ while the cross Premium version is priced at 739,990 ‌crowns.

Corporate clients can purchase the car for 399,993 crowns excluding⁣ VAT, including financing bonuses. Five equipment levels​ are available, including two Cross variants with plastic ⁤body cladding, unique bumpers, standard 17-inch wheels, and ⁢the⁤ larger battery.
