Crash Closes Lanes on Interstate 77 in North Charlotte

A crash closed three of six lanes on Interstate 77 in north Charlotte on Sunday morning, causing traffic disruptions for commuters.

First responders arrived at the scene near Interstate 485 around 10:40 a.m., according to reports. The North Carolina Department of Transportation confirmed that the three far-right lanes were closed as a result of the incident.

Fortunately, MEDIC reported that no one was injured in the crash. This was a welcome relief given the potential for serious incidents on a busy highway like I-77.

The North Carolina Department of Transportation initially estimated the lanes would be cleared by 11:40 a.m., offering a timeframe for drivers to anticipate a return to normal traffic flow. However, the situation remained fluid, and officials advised motorists to exercise caution in the area.

As of this reporting, no additional details regarding the cause of the crash or the vehicles involved have been released. Authorities continue to investigate the circumstances surrounding the incident.

EPA Administrator Visits Huntersville Car Dealership

In a separate development, the administrator of the Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) visited a car dealership in Huntersville, North Carolina, following a major rule change concerning greenhouse gases. The visit highlights the federal government’s focus on emissions standards and the automotive industry’s transition to more environmentally friendly vehicles.

The EPA’s new regulations are expected to have a significant impact on car manufacturers and consumers alike, prompting discussions about the future of transportation and the role of electric vehicles.

Meanwhile, a separate incident occurred on Wednesday morning on Interstate 485 Outer in south Charlotte. Four people were seriously injured in a rollover crash near Mile Marker 66, close to the I-77 and Nations Ford Road area. Medic confirmed the crash involved an overturned vehicle and that all four injured individuals were treated at the scene.
