Kenji Diab talks about his project “My Life Diary”: The idea came after my graduation

“Challenging conventional ideas about art culture in the Arab world,” explains the goal Kenzi Diab has set before him in his project, which he founded with his childhood friend Christina Shawkair: “After I graduate from university in 2022, I am an Arab in the creative arts. wanted to find a way to collaborate with women and find like-minded people to join them,” according to a previous interview with Vogue magazine.

Kenzi Diab revealed that sharing that vision with Christina, her childhood best friend, who has a professional background in art, contributed to the development and realization of the “Hayati Diaries” collection, continuing: “Although the concept evolved to focus on art, however , its essence lies in our fundamental desire to collaborate and support Arab women in various creative industries.”

Kenzi Diab and her friend organized the first exhibition titled Through the Eyes: Perspectives Revealed in November 2023 in London, the British capital, and included 9 incredibly talented female artists from various parts of the Arab world, including Lebanon, Egypt, Oman, Jordan, etc. Palestine, Bahrain, Saudi Arabia, Morocco and the Emirates.

Kenzi Diab explained in her interview why she focused on the work of Arab women artists, saying: “The broader picture of Arab women is often overlooked or misrepresented, but with the opportunity for Arab women to share. Their narratives are directly reflected in our exhibition, which we hope provides a more accurate understanding of their diverse and multifaceted experiences. This approach will free us from portraying them imperfectly, and instead offer a platform for the authentic expression of their personal truth and spirit.”
