Interview with Nadine Nassib Nazim: A Quest for Meaningful Roles and Personal Privacy
In a candid conversation on the “Her Excellency” program with renowned host Essad Younes, Lebanese actress Nadine Nassib Nazim opened up about her experiences and aspirations as she navigates her acting career in Egypt.
Younes: Nadine, you’ve expressed your happiness about being welcomed in Egypt. How does that feel for you as an actress?
Nazim: It feels incredibly uplifting. The Egyptian audience has always had a special place in my heart. Performing here is an honor, and I am grateful for the warmth I’ve received. However, I find that many of the roles offered to me tend to lack depth and do not challenge my capabilities as an actress.
Younes: You’ve been quite vocal about wanting more challenging roles. What exactly are you looking for?
Nazim: I miss the opportunity to truly perform and convey my skills on stage or screen. I seek roles that allow me to delve deeper into my character and depict complex narratives. Unfortunately, many current offers don’t provide that depth, which is frustrating because I know I can bring much more to the table.
Younes: Shifting gears a bit, you recently experienced a personal change. You announced your divorce and won the Best Arab Actress award shortly before that. How do you reconcile these significant events in your life?
Nazim: Life certainly has its ups and downs. I believe it’s crucial to draw a line between my personal and professional life. I choose to keep the reasons for my divorce private because that’s a deep personal matter. Winning the award was a significant achievement for me, and I want to focus on the positives while maintaining my privacy.
Younes: Many fans tend to have a sense of ownership over celebrities’ personal lives. How do you deal with that?
Nazim: I understand that public interest can be intense, but I firmly believe that I owe no one explanations about my personal life. My marriage and divorce are between me and my loved ones, and I intend to keep it that way. My job is to provide my best work to my audience.
Younes: With that said, do you see your future in Egyptian cinema?
Nazim: Absolutely, I still have a strong desire to act in Egypt. However, it must be in roles that truly reflect my abilities and allow for personal growth. I’m hopeful that the right opportunities will present themselves in the near future.
Younes: Thank you, Nadine, for sharing your thoughts with us. It’s clear you have a passionate vision for your career moving forward.
Nazim: Thank you for having me. I appreciate the support and the platform to express my views.
Through her comments, Nazim highlights both her desire for more meaningful roles in Egypt and her preference for privacy in her personal matters.
