Ian Watkins, the former lead singer of the Welsh rock band Lostprophets, has died after being attacked while serving a lengthy prison sentence at HMP Wakefield in West Yorkshire, England. The incident occurred at approximately 9:39 ⁤AM GMT‍ on ⁢October 11, 2024, ‍according to West Yorkshire Police.

Long-Term Incarceration for Serious Offences

Watkins, 48,⁣ was imprisoned in‍ December 2013⁢ following‍ his conviction on multiple charges of child sex offences,⁣ including attempted rape.He received a 29-year sentence ‍with an additional⁣ six⁢ years on license.
