Wimbledon 2025 promises an enhanced experience for tennis fans, thanks to new AI-powered digital tools developed by the All England Lawn Tennis Club (AELTC) and IBM. Building on a 35-year partnership, the collaboration introduces features designed to provide deeper insights and greater engagement.
A highlight of this year’s tournament is “Match Chat,” an interactive AI assistant accessible via the Wimbledon App and website. This feature allows fans to ask specific questions about ongoing matches,receiving instant answers on statistics and player performance. The system uses IBM’s Watsonx platform, trained on Wimbledon’s editorial style, to deliver authentic and insightful responses. Match Chat will also be available post-match for select high-profile encounters via IBM Slamtracker.
The “likelihood to Win” tool has also been upgraded. Instead of static pre-match predictions,it now offers dynamically updated win probabilities throughout each game. This real-time analysis, powered by AI, considers player statistics, expert opinions, and live match data. The tool uses IBM technologies, including Red Hat OpenShift, for efficient delivery of insights.
