IBM Cloud suffers outage, discloses security flaw

IBM is dealing with the fallout from another cloud outage and the disclosure of a critical security vulnerability this week.
The latest outage, which impacted the IBM Cloud console, began Wednesday at 9:03 a.m. UTC and lasted until 1:20 p.m. UTC. Users where unable to access their cloud resources or view support cases, mirroring a similar incident on Tuesday and another on May 21, according to reports. the company has not yet responded to requests for comment on whether the incidents are related.
IBM Japan issued an apology for the disruption.
Compounding the issue, IBM released a security bulletin on wednesday detailing a critical vulnerability, CVE-2025-2502, in its QRadar threat detection and response tools and cloud Pak for Security integration suite.The flaw, which involves a password left in a configuration file, received a severity score of 9.6 out of 10. The bulletin also mentioned four othre QRadar flaws with lower severity ratings.
The good news, according to IBM, is that the flaws were introduced in recent upgrades, possibly limiting the number of affected users. Customers are urged to perform health checks on their resources and contact IBM Cloud Support if they experience any issues.
