ICONic Riverfest to Focus on Des Moines Water Trails Cleanup

ICON Water trails is set to host its inaugural ICONic Riverfest on June 11, a regional volunteer effort aimed at enhancing the quality, safety, and enjoyment of local water trails.The event, scheduled from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m., will focus on water trails cleanup across the ICON Regional Network.
Volunteers will tackle debris removal and invasive species at various sites throughout the network, which includes locations in Altoona, Bondurant, Des Moines, Johnston, Norwalk, West Des Moines, Windsor Heights, waukee, Urbandale, and Polk County Conservation parks. The day kicks off with a morning coffee hour and check-in, featuring welcoming remarks before the water trails cleanup begins.
Following the cleanup, participants are invited to Captain Roy’s, located at 1900 Saylor Road in Des Moines, for a festivity featuring live music and lunch. This event underscores the importance of community involvement in maintaining and improving local waterways.
