ICONic Riverfest to Focus on Des ⁤Moines Water Trails Cleanup

ICON Water ⁢trails is ‍set to host its inaugural ​ICONic ⁢Riverfest on June 11, a regional volunteer effort⁢ aimed at ⁤enhancing the quality, safety, and ⁤enjoyment ⁣of local water trails.The event, scheduled from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m., will focus on water ​trails cleanup across the ICON Regional Network.

Volunteers will tackle debris removal‍ and invasive species at various ⁣sites throughout the ⁣network, which⁤ includes locations in Altoona, ⁢Bondurant, Des Moines, Johnston, Norwalk, West Des Moines, Windsor Heights, waukee, Urbandale, and‌ Polk County ⁤Conservation ​parks. The day kicks off with a morning coffee hour and ‌check-in, featuring welcoming remarks before the water ⁢trails cleanup begins.

Following the ⁢cleanup, participants are invited to‍ Captain Roy’s, located at 1900 Saylor Road in Des ​Moines, for a festivity featuring live music and lunch. This event⁤ underscores the importance‍ of community involvement in⁢ maintaining and improving ‍local​ waterways.
