Iconic Simpsons Voice Actor Retires After 35 Years: Impact on the Show and Fans
Pamela Hayden, the voice of Milhouse Van Houten, is leaving The Simpsons after 35 years. She will exit the show on November 24 during a Treehouse of Horror episode. Hayden, 70, expressed her gratitude, saying, “It’s been an honour and a joy to have worked on such a funny, witty, and groundbreaking show.”
Milhouse is known as Bart Simpson’s awkward friend. Show creator Matt Groening praised Hayden’s work, noting her ability to make Milhouse “hilarious and real.”
Milhouse first appeared in a Butterfinger commercial in 1989. His name comes from former U.S. president Richard Milhous Nixon. Groening chose this name to highlight its unfortunate nature for a child.
Milhouse often faced bullying in the series, particularly from Nelson. In one episode, Bart even got him placed on America’s Most Wanted list.
